2 T. bacon drippings (grease)
4 c. shredded red cabbage
2 c. cubed unpeeled apples
¼ c. brown sugar
¼ c. vinegar
¼ c. water
1 ¼ tsp. salt
1 onion, chopped

Heat grease in skillet. Add remaining ingredients and a dash of pepper. Cover tightly and cook over low heat stirring occasionally. For crisp cabbage cook 15 minutes. For tender cabbage, cook 25-30 min.
